South Africa secured a commanding nine-wicket victory over the West Indies in the first T20I of the series played yesterday in Paarl, South Africa.
Batting first, the West Indies posted 173 for 7 in their 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer top-scored with 48 runs, while Rovman Powell remained unbeaten on 29.
For South Africa, George Linde impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj picked up two wickets each.
In response, South Africa chased down the target comfortably, reaching 176 for 1 in just 17.5 overs.
Captain Aiden Markram played a superb unbeaten knock of 86 runs, supported by Ryan Rickelton (40*) and Lhuan-dré Pretorius, who added 44 runs. The lone South African wicket was taken by Roston Chase.
George Linde was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
With this win, South Africa take a 1–0 lead in the three-match T20 series.
