The funeral of Spanish footballer Jesús de Miguel, who tragically passed away following an on-field accident, was held yesterday at the San Miguel Arcángel Church in Navahermosa, Spain.
The 30-year-old, who represented Tenerife, suffered a serious accident during a football match in Spain last Monday after colliding with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono.
Medical staff attended to De Miguel immediately before he was taken to hospital. However, he passed away on Tuesday, leaving the football community in mourning.
His funeral was attended by a large gathering of family members, friends, teammates and football supporters. Tenerife teammates paid their final respects as his coffin was carried away amid emotional scenes.
Among those attending the funeral were Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente, along with numerous other figures from Spanish football.
A large number of supporters also gathered to pay tribute to the late footballer and honour his memory.
