Sri Lanka celebrated a double gold-medal success at the Asian Para Games, with Pradeep Somasiri and Janani Dhananjana both setting new Games records in their respective events.
Pradeep Somasiri claimed gold in the men’s T46 1,500m race, finishing in 4 minutes, 3.25 seconds to establish a new Games record.
His victory also secured Sri Lanka’s first gold medal at this year’s Asian Para Games.
Meanwhile, Janani Dhananjana won gold in the women’s T47 long jump with an impressive leap of 5.52 metres, also setting a new Games record.
The Asian Para Games are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
