Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara has filed a legal case in the Colombo District Court, seeking a court order to compel Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to issue him a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
The request comes as Thushara aims to participate in international franchise leagues, including the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The petition, filed through senior counsel G.G. Arulpragasam, was taken up in court today. After considering the submissions, the court ordered that the matter be called again on April 9 for further hearing. Notices were also issued to the respondents.
Named as respondents in the case are SLC President Shammi Silva, Secretary Bandula Dissanayake, Treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyadda, and CEO Ashley de Silva.
The case now sets the stage for a crucial legal battle that could impact Thushara’s participation in upcoming global T20 leagues.
