Swiss national gymnastics champion Soleil Tauscher and her younger sister, rising talent Luna Tauscher, have expressed their desire to represent Sri Lanka on the international stage during a meeting with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage.
The two sisters, who currently represent Genève Gymnastique Artistique in Switzerland, met the Sports Minister at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on July 22.
Born to German father Gerhard Tauscher and Sri Lankan mother Luvini Ranasinghe, the young gymnasts have already made their mark in Switzerland.
Ten-year-old Soleil Nadinya Tauscher recently captured the Under-11 title at the 2026 Swiss National Gymnastics Championships, becoming the Swiss U11 National Champion after a series of outstanding performances.
Her eight-year-old sister, Luna Durangi Tauscher, is also emerging as one of the sport’s brightest young prospects, continuing to impress with her performances in artistic gymnastics.
During the meeting, the sisters expressed their ambition to compete under the Sri Lankan flag in future international competitions, despite already achieving success overseas.
Welcoming their decision, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage praised the young athletes for their commitment to their ancestral homeland and assured them of the Ministry’s full support in helping them represent Sri Lanka at the international level.
The meeting was also attended by the athletes’ parents and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
