The Galle Gallants have been crowned champions of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament, defeating the Jaffna Kings in a thrilling final at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
After winning the toss, Jaffna Kings opted to bat first but were bowled out for just 123 in 19.3 overs.
Kamindu Mishara top-scored for Jaffna with 41 runs, while Charith Asalanka and Ishan Malinga spearheaded the Gallants’ bowling attack with three wickets each.
In reply, Galle Gallants chased down the target with ease, reaching 126/5 in just 15.5 overs to seal the championship.
Thomas Rogers led the chase with a valuable 34, while Dinura Kalupahana contributed 31.
For Jaffna, Trevyn Mathew and Shakib Al Hasan claimed two wickets each, but they could not prevent the Gallants from lifting the LPL trophy.
With this victory, Galle Gallants have been crowned LPL champions, completing a memorable campaign in style.
