Dhananjaya de Silva has resigned as Sri Lanka’s Test captain, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced.
According to a statement issued by SLC, Dhananjaya said he had taken the decision to hand over the leadership responsibility to the next generation.
However, he will continue to represent Sri Lanka as a player, the cricket board confirmed.
Dhananjaya’s resignation marks a leadership change for Sri Lanka’s Test team as the country looks towards the next generation of players.
