Shreyas Iyer smashed his maiden T20I century as India opened their five-match T20I series against the West Indies with a commanding eight-wicket victory in Lucknow.
Batting first, the West Indies were bowled out for 171, with captain Shai Hope top-scoring with 52 and Sherfane Rutherford contributing 56.
For India, Naman Dhir was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets each.
India made light work of the chase, reaching 172 for 2 in just 14.4 overs to seal a comfortable victory.
Iyer produced a sensational innings, smashing 102 off 43 balls in his first T20I century. His explosive knock included 10 fours and six sixes.
He received excellent support from Ishan Kishan, who remained unbeaten on 37 as India cruised to victory.
With India taking a 1–0 lead in the five-match series, the second T20I will be played in Ranchi on Friday (9).
