The opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games is set to take place shortly in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, officially marking the start of the continental sporting spectacle.
Around 11,000 athletes from 46 Asian countries are expected to compete at this year’s Games.
Sri Lanka will be represented by 156 athletes, who will compete across 25 sports.
At today’s opening ceremony, the Sri Lankan flag will be carried by athletes Isivaruṇa de Silva and Nuyara Fernando.
While several preliminary-round events have already got underway, the Asian Games will officially begin following today’s opening ceremony.
