Bangladesh kicked off their home ODI series against the West Indies in emphatic fashion, clinching a convincing 74-run victory in the opening match at Mirpur today.
On a slow Mirpur surface, Bangladesh opted to bat first but were bowled out for just 207 runs. Towhid Hridoy anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 90 balls, while Mahidul Islam Ankon added a handy 46.
For the visitors, Jayden Seales was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 3 wickets, while Roston Chase and Justin Greaves chipped in with two apiece.
In reply, the Caribbean side struggled right from the start, collapsing to 133 all out as Bangladesh’s spinners ran riot.
Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain delivered a magical spell, taking 6 wickets for 35 runs, completely dismantling the West Indies lineup. Mustafizur Rahman provided strong support with two wickets of his own.
Brandon King’s 44 was the only highlight in an otherwise disappointing batting display for the tourists.
With this win, Bangladesh take a 1–0 lead in the three-match series, and Rishad Hossain rightfully earned the Player of the Match honors for his brilliant performance.
