The Sri Lankan cricket team, crowned champions of the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament, returned to the country early this morning. Officials from Sri Lanka Cricket, along with other supporters, warmly welcomed the team at Katunayake International Airport.
The tournament, held over three days at the Mission Road Ground in Hong Kong, made a comeback this year after a hiatus since 2017. The event was first introduced in 1992.
Led by Lahiru Madushanka, the Sri Lankan team featured players such as Lahiru Samarakoon, Nimesh Vimukthi, Sandun Weerakkody, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Tharindu Ratnayake, and Thanuka Dabare.
Sri Lanka secured the title by defeating Pakistan by three wickets in the final. This marks the second time Sri Lanka has won the Hong Kong Sixes Championship, the first being in 2007.
