After winning the toss and opting to bowl, the West Indies saw India pile up a formidable 249 for 5 in their 20 overs.
Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 82 off 41 balls, while Tilak Varma smashed 44 off just 18 deliveries. Ishan Kishan contributed 43 off 22 balls, and Shreyas Iyer added a quickfire 40 off 18.
For the West Indies, Roston Chase claimed three wickets, while Shamar Springer picked up two.
In reply, the West Indies delivered a stunning batting performance, chasing down the target of 250 to reach 252 for 4 in 19 overs and seal a remarkable victory.
Captain Shai Hope was the driving force behind the chase, smashing an unbeaten 102 off just 45 balls. He received outstanding support from Sherfane Rutherford, who blasted 84 off 37 deliveries, while Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on 34.
Mayank Yadav was India’s leading bowler, claiming three wickets, but India were unable to stop the West Indies’ charge.
The victory marked the West Indies’ highest successful T20I run chase and the highest successful chase by any team against India in men’s T20I cricket.
