Sri Lanka Defeats Bhutan 2-0 in FIFA Series 2024 Sri Lanka Edition

Sri Lanka secured a 2-0 victory against Bhutan in the FIFA Series 2024 Sri Lanka Edition match held at the Colombo Racecourse Grounds.

The first half ended goalless as neither side managed to score.

However, just 23 seconds into the second half, 21-year-old Dillon de Silva scored Sri Lanka’s first goal. Later, in the 55th minute, Oliver James added the second goal for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka maintained an aggressive playing style throughout the match, preventing Bhutan from scoring any goals until the final whistle.

According to the FIFA rankings, Bhutan holds the 184th position, while Sri Lanka is ranked 204th.

This victory marks Sri Lanka’s first international win in three years and is particularly significant as it is their first win against Bhutan in a decade.
