Sri Lankan Army para-athlete Warrant Officer II Palitha Bandara and his coach, Bombardier Prabath Dhanushka Perera, have been honoured by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army following their success at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Bandara won the silver medal in the men’s discus throw, delivering a memorable performance for Sri Lanka at the Games.
The athlete and his coach met Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne on August 20, 2026.
During the meeting, the Army Commander praised Bandara for his outstanding sporting achievement and recognised the contribution of his coach, who played a key role in guiding him to Commonwealth Games success.
Both were presented with special commemorative mementoes and financial rewards in recognition of their achievements.
