Sri Lanka’s rising sprint star, Chamod Yodasinghe, secured the silver medal in the 100m event at the Dubai Grand PrixChampionships held in the United Arab Emirates.
The fiercely competitive men’s 100m sprint event featured 44 athletes across six heats. Veteran sprinter Yupun Abeykoon took part in the opening heat and finished fifth with a time of 10.39 seconds.
In the second heat, it was Yodasinghe who lit up the track, claiming first place with an impressive time of 10.27 seconds. After all six heats were completed and overall performances assessed, Chamod Yodasinghe emerged as the second-fastest athlete, earning him the prestigious silver medal.
Sri Lanka also competed in the men’s 4x100m relay, represented by Chamod Yodasinghe, Yupun Abeykoon, Meron Wijesinghe, and Deneth Weeraratne. The team delivered a strong performance, finishing in fourth place with a time of 39.41 seconds.
Sri Lanka’s sprinting scene continues to show promise on the international stage, with Yodasinghe’s medal finish marking a significant achievement for the nation’s athletics.
