Day 7 of the Under-22 Asian Boxing Championship, held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, will see five Sri Lankan boxers entering the ring today in hopes of securing wins after a disappointing performance yesterday.
On Day 6, none of the four Sri Lankan competitors managed to progress beyond the preliminary round:
- Aravinda Hansajith (57kg) lost to a boxer from Kazakhstan.
- Sathsara Chaminda (48kg) was also defeated by a Kazakh opponent.
- Pawani Kavisha (48kg) fell to a strong contender from India.
- Sabrina Rahim (52kg) was eliminated by another Kazakh competitor.
The Sri Lankan team is now focused on bouncing back as the tournament continues, with high hopes pinned on today’s five athletes. The championship will run until May 23, attracting top young talent from across Asia.
