Sri Lankan swimmer Hiruki de Silva has smashed the existing national record in the women’s 200m individual medley, delivering a stellar performance during the ongoing selection trials held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool.
These trials are being conducted to select the national team for upcoming international swimming championships, featuring 69 athletes from across the island.
Hiruki clocked an impressive 2 minutes, 26.65 seconds, surpassing the previous national record held by Kimiko Rahim. Her record-breaking swim has made her one of the frontrunners for international selection.
