Competitions were held in age categories ranging from 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 years up to over 85 years.

The Best Performance award, presented to the most outstanding athlete of the championship in every respect, was won this year by Nimali Liyanarachchi, who competed in the 35–39 age group.

Representing Hambantota District, she completed the 800 meters event in 2 minutes and 12 seconds and the 1500 meters event in 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

Nimali Liyanarachchi is a former Olympian who has previously represented Sri Lanka at the Olympic Games.

Athletes qualifying through this championship will be eligible to participate in the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in Chennai, India, from November 5th to 9th this year.
