Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga continued his remarkable rise on the international stage by winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the Doha Diamond League.
Tharanga produced a superb throw of 88.68 metres to finish at the top of a highly competitive field and claim another prestigious international title.
The silver medal went to Grenadian star Anderson Peters, who recorded a best throw of 86.38 metres.
American athlete Curtis Thompson secured the bronze medal with an effort of 85.99 metres.
Tharanga’s victory is another major achievement for Sri Lankan athletics and further strengthens his position among the world’s leading javelin throwers.
Having consistently challenged the sport’s biggest names on the Diamond League circuit, the Sri Lankan star continues to build momentum ahead of the season’s major championships.
