The 2025 Asia Cup T20 tournament is officially scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, according to an announcement by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) yesterday.
This year’s edition will feature 8 teams — an increase from the 6 teams that participated in previous tournaments. The expansion allows two emerging Asian teams to compete on the big stage, as per the ACC’s statement.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format and will begin with a group stage divided into two groups — Group A and Group B.
Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman
Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong
Sri Lanka will begin its campaign on September 13 with a match against Bangladesh, followed by games against Hong Kong on September 15 and Afghanistan on September 18.
The grand final of the Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to be played on September 28.
