2026 Asian Men’s Rugby Championship delivered a dramatic contest today as Hong Kong secured a thrilling 15-14 victory over Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The match was played at the Racecourse Ground with several dignitaries in attendance, including Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage and Sri Lanka Rugby President Pavithra Fernando.
Both teams battled fiercely from the opening whistle in a tightly contested encounter. Hong Kong managed to take a narrow 3-0 lead into halftime after successfully converting a penalty, while Sri Lanka failed to get on the scoreboard in the first half.
Sri Lanka responded strongly after the break, crossing over for two converted tries to collect 14 points in the second half. However, Hong Kong answered with a converted try and an additional try of their own to narrowly stay ahead.
In the end, Hong Kong held on to record a dramatic one-point victory, finishing the match 15-14.
