Trinity College, Kandy extended their unbeaten run in the Inter-School Rugby League with a commanding victory over Wesley College, Colombo on Sunday.
The match, played at the Havelock Sports Club Grounds in Colombo, saw Trinity take complete control from the outset. The Kandy side led 19-0 at halftime and went on to secure a dominant 43-10 victory at full-time.
Trinity’s points came through four converted tries and three unconverted tries, underlining another impressive all-round performance as they maintained their perfect record in the competition.
DS Senanayake Overcome Prince of Wales
At the Air Force Grounds in Ratmalana, DS Senanayake College registered a hard-fought 27-21 win over Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa.
DS Senanayake held a narrow 10-7 advantage at the break before pulling away in the second half to seal the victory.
The winners scored four tries and one conversion in an entertaining contest.
Thurstan Edge St. Anthony’s in Nail-Biter
Meanwhile, at the Nittawela Grounds, Thurstan College, Colombo claimed a narrow 14-12 victory over St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota.
The teams were locked at 7-7 at halftime, but Thurstan held their nerve in a closely fought second half to emerge victorious.
Thurstan’s points came from two converted tries in a match that went right down to the wire.
