The Bangladesh government has banned the broadcast of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) within the country.
This decision comes as a direct response to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) removing Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh have also refused to travel to India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, it was confirmed yesterday.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to consider hosting all of Bangladesh’s scheduled matches in Sri Lanka, instead of India.
Bangladesh were originally set to play several of their World Cup matches in India, but officials now cite safety and fairness concerns following recent developments.
This latest move has intensified uncertainty around the tournament’s logistics, with international media reporting growing tensions surrounding Bangladesh’s participation in matches hosted in India
