Three more exciting matches are scheduled today in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The day’s action begins with Afghanistan vs New Zealand at 11:00 AM in Chennai. Later in the afternoon, England take on Nepal at 3:00 PM in Mumbai.
Sri Lanka will also be in action today, facing Ireland at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The Sri Lankan squad held their training session at the venue yesterday as they finalized preparations for the encounter.
This will be the first T20 International meeting between Sri Lanka and Ireland since 2022.
Historically, Sri Lanka have enjoyed success in the T20 World Cup, having won the title once and finishing as runners-up on two occasions.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka were forced into a squad change ahead of the tournament. Fast bowler Eshan Malinga has been ruled out due to injury, with Pramod Madushan called up as his replacement.
All eyes will be on Colombo as the home side looks to make a strong statement on the world stage.
