Kusal Mendis has been appointed captain of Sri Lanka’s Test cricket team, replacing Dhananjaya de Silva, who stepped down from the role earlier today.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed the appointment following discussions with the national selection committee.
Mendis is expected to lead Sri Lanka in their upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
The right-handed batter has played 75 Test matches for Sri Lanka, scoring 4,836 runs, including 10 centuries and 23 half-centuries.
Mendis now takes on the responsibility of leading Sri Lanka’s Test side as they prepare for their upcoming international assignments.
