In the ongoing Women’s Tri-Nation One Day Cricket Series being held in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team secured a memorable 3-wicket win against India in today’s match.
This marks Sri Lanka’s first ODI victory over India since 2018.
The match was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Batting first, the Indian team posted a total of 275 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. The top scorer for India was Richa Ghosh with 58 runs, followed by Jemimah Rodrigues (37) and Pratika Rawal (35).
For Sri Lanka, Sugandhika Kumari and Chamari Athapaththu were the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets each.
In response, Sri Lanka chased down the target, scoring 278 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 49.1 overs.
This chase marks the second-highest successful run chase in Sri Lanka Women’s ODI history.
Nilakshika Silva led the chase with 56 runs, while Harshitha Samarawickrama contributed 53. Kavisha Dilhari also chipped in with a valuable 35 runs.
Sri Lanka’s next match in the series is scheduled for the 9th, where they will face South Africa.
