In a thrilling day game of yesterday’s double-header, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) suffered a narrow 4-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in one of the highest-scoring matches of IPL 2025 so far.
After being invited to bat first by KKR, LSG posted a mammoth total of 238 for 3. Star batter and current top run-scorer of the tournament, Nicholas Pooran, smashed a blistering 87 off 36 balls, while Mitchell Marsh contributed a steady 81 off 48 balls.
Despite being under pressure, Harshit Rana managed to pick up 2 wickets for KKR.
Chasing an enormous target, KKR batters gave it their all but fell just short, ending their innings at 234 for 7 in 20 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a valiant 61 off 35 balls, while Venkatesh Iyer added 45 off 29, and Rinku Singh contributed a fiery 38 off 15.
In the bowling department for LSG, Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur grabbed 2 wickets each, helping restrict KKR at the death.
