Sri Lanka have secured direct qualification for the 2027 ICC Women’s Champions Cup, despite losing the hosting rights for the tournament.
Sri Lanka Cricket officially confirmed the qualification in a statement, stressing that the team’s place in the six-team tournament remains secure even though the event will now be held in another country.
Sri Lanka Cricket also said it is ready to work closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the new host nation and all other stakeholders to ensure the tournament is successfully staged.
Sri Lanka’s direct qualification comes after the team secured sixth place in the current ICC Women’s ODI rankings.
The five teams currently ranked above Sri Lanka — Australia, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa — have already secured their places in the tournament.
The 2027 Women’s Champions Cup will feature six teams, with Sri Lanka now confirmed as one of the sides set to compete for the title.
