The Group stage clash between Netherlands and Japan ended in a 2-2 draw in an entertaining FIFA World Cup encounter played in Dallas.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in a cautious first half, which ended goalless despite several attacking moves.

The breakthrough came in the 51st minute, when Virgil van Dijk put the Netherlands ahead with a powerful finish.

Japan responded strongly, with Kento Nakamura scoring the equaliser to bring his side back into the contest.

In the 64th minute, Crysencio Summerville restored the Netherlands’ lead, giving them control of the match once again.

However, Japan refused to back down, and in the 89th minute, Daichi Kamada struck a late equaliser to secure a valuable point for his team.

The match finished 2-2, with both sides sharing the spoils after a dramatic late twist.
