The Sri Lanka National Football Team, which qualified for the third round of the Asian Cup Championship, arrived at Katunayake Airport on the night of September 11.
Following their September 5 match against Cambodia in Colombo, which ended in a draw, the two teams faced off again on September 10 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The second match also ended in a 2-2 draw during regular time, leading to a penalty shootout. Sri Lanka triumphed 4-2 in the penalties, securing their spot in the third round of the championship.
The victorious team arrived at Katunayake Airport at 11:10 PM on September 11 aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ-468 from Singapore.
A large crowd of football players and enthusiastic fans gathered at the airport’s arrival terminal to welcome the team.
