Australian swimmers set a new Olympic record in the swimming events yesterday at the Paris Olympic Games.
The swimming competitions commenced on the first day of the Paris Olympics yesterday. In the women’s 400-meter freestyle event, the gold medal was claimed by Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus, with an impressive performance clocking 3 minutes 57.49 seconds. The silver medal went to Canada, and the bronze to the USA. Setting a new Olympic record, Australian swimmers also secured the gold medal in the women’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay, clocking 3 minutes 28.92 seconds. The silver medal in this event went to the USA, while China claimed the bronze.
In the men’s 400-meter freestyle event, Germany’s Lukas Märtens clinched the gold medal, completing the race in 3 minutes 41.78 seconds. The silver medal went to Australia, and South Korea secured the bronze. Meanwhile, in the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay, the American team dominated, claiming the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 9.28 seconds. Australia took the silver medal, and Italy earned the bronze.
As of now, Australia leads the Paris Olympics medal tally with three gold medals, two silver medals, and a total of five medals. China, with two gold medals, holds second place. The USA is in third place, followed by host nation France in fourth.
