Sri Lanka’s Rasara Wijesooriya set a new national record in the Women’s 10,000m event today at the Asian Athletics Championships, held in Gumi, South Korea.
Despite finishing 7th, Rasara clocked a time of 33 minutes, 21.62 seconds, breaking the previous Sri Lankan record of 33:39.60 minutes. The race, originally scheduled for yesterday, was postponed due to heavy rain and resumed today.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan men’s 4x400m relay team also shined by qualifying for the final. They won their second heat, recording a time of 3 minutes, 7.66 seconds, advancing confidently to the next round.
