After a lapse of 57 years, Sri Lanka is set to host an Asian-level boxing tournament once again. The Asian U-22 Youth Boxing Championship will take place from May 12 to 23 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
Several international boxing teams have already arrived in the country to participate in the event. Over 400 male and female boxers representing 25 countries are expected to compete.
Sri Lanka will field a 33-member squad, comprising both male and female athletes, making it a special occasion for the host nation. The tournament will feature 12 women’s weight categories and 13 men’s weight categories, promising a thrilling series of bouts throughout the championship.
