Sri Lanka Set to Face South Korea in Rugby Asia Division 1 Opener

2027 Rugby World Cup qualification journey begins today at Racecourse Ground

Sri Lanka will kick off their 2027 Rugby World Cup qualification campaign today as they take on South Korea in the opening match of the Asia Rugby Division 1 Championship.

The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo. South Korea currently holds the 35th spot in the World Rugby Rankings, while Sri Lanka trails closely at 39th place.

The Sri Lankan team will be led by Tarinda Ratwatte, with the squad also featuring Australia-based player of Sri Lankan descent, Adam Gauder.

The full lineup representing Sri Lanka today includes:
Tarinda Ratwatte (captain), Senura Perera, Pulasti Dissanayake, Thanuja Jayawira, Naveen Marasinghe, Thilina Bandara, Lahiru Thilakaratne, Tharindu Chathuranga, Lasindu Karunathilaka, Hesham Jansz, Dinal Ekanayake, Akash Madushanka, Adam Gauder, Pasindu Bandara, and Murshid Dore.

This encounter marks a crucial step for Sri Lanka in their quest for a place at the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
