Australia claimed a convincing 9-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test, securing a 2-0 series sweep.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first and posted 257 runs in their first innings. Kusal Mendis remained unbeaten on 85, while Dinesh Chandimal contributed 74. For Australia, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Nathan Lyon each took three wickets.

In response, Australia amassed a commanding total of 414, powered by centuries from Steve Smith (131) and Alex Carey (156). Prabath Jayasuriya picked up five wickets for Sri Lanka, while Nishan Peiris claimed three.

Sri Lanka’s second innings saw them score 231, with Angelo Mathews (76) and Kusal Mendis (50) leading the resistance. However, Kuhnemann and Lyon dismantled the batting lineup again, both taking four wickets each.

Chasing a modest target of 75, Australia comfortably reached the total, losing just one wicket—Travis Head.

With this victory, Australia completed a 2-0 series win. Alex Carey was named Player of the Match, while Steve Smith earned the Player of the Series award.
