Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finally etched their name in history by winning their first-ever IPL title, defeating Punjab Kings by a narrow margin of 6 runs in a nail-biting IPL 2025 final held in Ahmedabad.

Both teams entered the final chasing their maiden championship, adding to the high-stakes atmosphere. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, RCB posted a competitive 190/9 in 20 overs. Veteran star Virat Kohli top-scored with a brisk 43 off 35 balls, while Jitesh Sharma’s 24 off 10 and Romario Shepherd’s 17 off 9 provided crucial late-order fireworks.

In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson picked up 3 wickets each for Punjab.

Chasing 191, Punjab Kings managed 184/7 in 20 overs. Shashank Singh was the standout performer with a rapid 61 off 30 balls, smashing six sixes. Needing 29 runs in the final two overs, Punjab fell just short, scoring 22 runs, handing RCB a six-run victory.

This thrilling win marks RCB’s first IPL title, breaking their long-standing drought after previously finishing runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016. The celebrations are sure to echo across Bengaluru, as RCB fans finally get to witness their team lift the IPL trophy.
