The CCC team clinched the championship title in the Inter-Club One-Day Cricket Tournament today with a commanding 187-run win over the Police team in the final played at the CCC Grounds in Colombo.
Batting first, CCC piled up a massive 387 runs for the loss of just 5 wickets in their 50 overs. The star of the innings was Pawan Rathnayake, who played a sensational knock, remaining unbeaten on 158 off just 94 balls. His powerful innings included 13 fours and 9 sixes.
Supporting him, Nishan Madushka scored a solid 88, Kamindu Mendis added 59 runs, and skipper Sonal Dinusha chipped in with 53.
In response, the Police team struggled against CCC’s bowling attack and were bowled out for just 200 runs in 40.2 overs. Priyamal Perera top-scored with 57 runs.
Inuka Karunaratne was the pick of the bowlers for CCC, taking 4 wickets and playing a key role in sealing the emphatic victory.
With this win, CCC emerged as the undisputed champions of the tournament, delivering a performance that showcased both batting firepower and bowling precision.
