New Zealand cruised to a 10-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in their 2026 T20 World Cup clash yesterday, setting a new world record in the process. The match was played in Chennai.

Batting first, the UAE posted 173/6 in their 20 overs. However, New Zealand chased down the target without losing a wicket, reaching 175/0 in just 15.2 overs in a stunning display of power hitting.

The unbeaten opening partnership between Finn Allen and Tim Seifert has now become the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 World Cup history.

The previous record was held by England’s Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, who put on 170 runs together.

During this record-breaking innings, Tim Seifert smashed an unbeaten 89 off 42 balls, while Finn Allen hammered 84 off 50 balls*.

For the UAE, captain Muhammad Waseem scored 66 off 45 balls, while Alishan Sharafu added 55.

With the ball for New Zealand, Matt Henry took 2 wickets, while Lockie Ferguson, Jacob Duffy, Mitchell Santner, and Glenn Phillips picked up one wicket each.
