Madushanka comes in for injured pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who sustained an injury during the match against Australia. He becomes the second Sri Lankan player ruled out of the tournament after Wanindu Hasaranga was earlier sidelined due to injury.

Prepare for the Dead Rubber Against Zimbabwe

Sri Lanka will play their final Group B match against Zimbabwe tomorrow at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The team trained at the venue today ahead of their final group stage match.

In the group stage:

  • Sri Lanka defeated Ireland, Oman, and Australia.
  • Zimbabwe beat Oman and Australia, while their match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain.

Historically, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have met 11 times in T20 Internationals, with Sri Lanka winning 8 matches and Zimbabwe claiming 3 victories. This will be their first T20 World Cup meeting since 2012.

Nissanka Climbs to No.3 in T20 Rankings

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has climbed to No. 3 in the ICC T20 batting rankings, up from sixth before the tournament began. He also became the first centurion of this year’s T20 World Cup, achieving the milestone against Australia.

With injuries testing the squad but momentum on their side, Sri Lanka head into the Zimbabwe clash aiming to finish the group stage strongly.
