Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka has decided to leave the Pakistan Super League, parting ways with the Lahore Qalandars in order to join the Indian Premier League.
Shanaka is set to link up with the Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Sam Curran.
Earlier, Curran had moved to Rajasthan Royals from the Chennai Super Kings through a player trade, with Sanju Samson going the other way to Chennai. However, Curran has now been ruled out of this year’s IPL due to an injury, opening the door for Shanaka to step in.
With this move, Shanaka becomes the second player this season to withdraw from the PSL in order to join the IPL. The first was Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, who left the Islamabad United to join the Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.
It’s another big opportunity for Shanaka to showcase his all-round abilities on one of cricket’s biggest stages.
