The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, has officially approved the newly appointed selection committee of Sri Lanka Cricket following a request made by the board on May 20, 2026.
The appointments were made under the powers granted by Section 39 (1) of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973 and the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2437/24 dated May 21, 2025.
The newly appointed selection committee is as follows:
- Kapila Wijegunawardene – Chairman
- Amal Silva – Member
- Brendon Kuruppu – Member
- Varuna Waragoda – Member
- Vanessa de Silva – Member
The Ministry stated that these new appointments are expected to strengthen transparency and professionalism in Sri Lanka Cricket’s future selection process.
