The second Test between Sri Lanka and the West Indies resumed today after an impressive opening day for the visitors, who closed on 338/5 in their first innings.
The match is being played in Antigua, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.
Openers Nishan Madushka and Lahiru Udara began the innings, but Madushka was dismissed for just six runs. Dinesh Chandimal also fell cheaply for one.
Lahiru Udara then produced a superb innings, registering his maiden Test century and laying the foundation for Sri Lanka’s strong position.
Kamindu Mendis made a valuable contribution with 84 runs before becoming Sri Lanka’s third wicket to fall.
Udara continued his outstanding knock before eventually being dismissed for a brilliant 188, marking the fourth wicket to fall in the innings.
At stumps on Day One, Kusal Mendis and Sonal Dinusha remained unbeaten at the crease, with Sri Lanka well placed heading into the second day’s play.
