Bangladesh ended the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe on a winning note with a convincing seven-wicket victory in the final match, but it was Zimbabwe who claimed the series 2-1.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz elected to field first. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 199, with Wesley Madhevere top-scoring with 75 and Brad Evans contributing 50.
Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings, led by Shoriful Islam, who finished with 4 wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target comfortably, reaching 200/3 in 36 overs. Opener Tanzid Hasan starred with a superb 94, while Soumya Sarkar added 69 in a match-winning opening partnership of 151 runs.
For Zimbabwe, Ernest Masuku was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets.
Bangladesh secured the final ODI by 7 wickets, but Zimbabwe emerged as the series winners after taking the first two matches to clinch the contest 2-1.
Tanzid Hasan was named Player of the Match, while Brad Evans earned the Player of the Series award.
