Thailand made a winning start to the Women’s Asia Cup T20 after defeating Hong Kong by six runs in the tournament opener in the UAE.
After being invited to bat first, Thailand posted 120/9 in 20 overs, led by captain Naruemol Chaiwai, who scored 43, while Nienapath Koncharoenkai added 27.
Hong Kong’s Marina Lamplough was the pick of the bowlers, claiming four wickets.
Chasing 121 for victory, Hong Kong managed 114/8 in their 20 overs. Kerry Chan and Yasmin Daswani top-scored with 28 runs each.
Thailand’s Onicha Kamchomphu led the bowling attack with three wickets, helping her side secure a six-run victory.
