Bangladesh succeeded in winning the second One Day International cricket match against Sri Lanka by 16 runs.
Accordingly, with each team having won one of the two matches played so far, the series now stands evenly poised.
The second ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Having won the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first. The innings began with Parvez Hossain and Tanzid Hasan opening the batting. Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for 7 runs with the team score at 10.
For the second wicket, Parvez Hossain and Najmul Hossain Shanto built a partnership worth 63 runs. Najmul was dismissed for 14, while Parvez top-scored with 67. Towhid Hridoy contributed a valuable 51 runs.
Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 248 in 45.5 overs. Asitha Fernando produced his career-best ODI bowling performance, taking 4 wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga claimed 3 wickets.
In reply, Sri Lanka’s innings began with openers Nishan Madushka and Pathum Nissanka. Pathum was dismissed early for 5 runs, and Madushka scored 17. Kusal Mendis recorded his 34th ODI half-century, while Kamindu Mendis contributed 33 runs.
Janith Liyanage fought a lone battle for Sri Lanka, compiling his 5th ODI half-century and scoring 78 runs.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 232 in 48.5 overs, falling short by 16 runs. Tanvir Islam bowled impressively, taking 5 wickets.
The third and deciding ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played next Tuesday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
