Dambulla Sixers made it two thrilling contests to begin the Lanka Premier League, defeating Kandy Royals by 18 runs in the tournament’s second match at the SSC Ground in Colombo.
After being sent in to bat, Dambulla Sixers piled up an impressive 205/6 in their 20 overs.
Reeza Hendricks starred with a magnificent unbeaten 87 off 50 balls, an innings featuring 11 fours and 2 sixes. Gulbadin Naib provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 46, helping Dambulla post a formidable total.
For Kandy Royals, Nuwan Thushara and Dushan Hemantha claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Kandy Royals finished on 188/6 from their 20 overs, falling 18 runs short of the target.
Glenn Phillips led the chase with 52, while Lahiru Udara contributed 44 and Vijay Shankar added 41, but their efforts were not enough to overhaul Dambulla’s total.
With the ball, Mohammad Wasim and Gulbadin Naib picked up two wickets apiece to secure Dambulla Sixers’ opening victory of the campaign.
