England produced a breathtaking attacking display to defeat France 6-4 in a thrilling FIFA World Cup third-place play-off, ending their campaign on a high in Miami.
England made the perfect start, with Declan Rice opening the scoring in the 3rd minute.
The Three Lions extended their advantage through Ezri Konsa in the 18th minute, before Bukayo Saka struck in the 37th minute. Saka added his second goal just before halftime, giving England a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
France mounted a sensational comeback after the restart. Kylian Mbappé pulled one back in the 48th minute, while Bradley Barcola made it 4-2 six minutes later.
Mbappé struck again in the 66th minute, reducing the deficit to 4-3 and setting up a dramatic finale.
England restored their two-goal cushion in the 87th minute when Bukayo Saka calmly converted a penalty to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-3.
France refused to surrender, with Ousmane Dembélé scoring late to cut the deficit to 5-4. However, Jude Bellingham put the result beyond doubt with England’s sixth goal in the closing moments, sealing a thrilling 6-4 victory.
The win secured third place for England at the FIFA World Cup after one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament.
