India recorded the largest Test victory in their history, defeating Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in a one-sided contest that concluded with two days still remaining in the match.

After winning the toss, India opted to bat first and piled up a massive 564/8 declared. Opener KL Rahul led the charge with a brilliant 100, while captain Shubman Gill struck 126. Valuable contributions also came from Rishabh Pant (81) and Washington Sundar (52).*

For Afghanistan, Mohammad Saleem was the standout bowler, claiming 6 wickets, while Hashmatullah Shahidi and Sewur Rahman picked up one wicket each.

Afghanistan struggled in reply and were bundled out for just 152 in their first innings, with Rahmat Shah top-scoring with 60 runs.

Trailing by 412 runs, Afghanistan were asked to follow on. However, their batting woes continued as they were dismissed for only 112 in the second innings, handing India a historic victory by an innings and 300 runs.

Making his Test debut, Manav Suthar produced a dream performance, claiming 6 wickets for 22 runs in Afghanistan’s first innings. Prasidh Krishna provided strong support with 3 wickets for 37 runs.

In the second innings, Washington Sundar grabbed 4 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed 3 wickets and Suthar added another scalp to cap off a memorable match.

The victory now stands as India’s biggest winning margin in Test cricket, surpassing all previous records. Debutant Manav Suthar was deservedly named Player of the Match after his sensational all-round bowling display.
