Islamabad United Begin PSL Campaign with Dominant 8-Wicket Win

Jason Holder stars with four wickets as Islamabad crush Lahore Qalandars

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season kicked off yesterday in Rawalpindi with an exciting opening clash between Lahore Qalandars, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Islamabad United, captained by Shadab Khan.

After winning the toss, Islamabad United chose to bowl first and produced a strong performance to dismiss Lahore Qalandars for just 139 runs.

For Lahore:

  • Abdullah Shafique scored a fighting 66 runs
  • Sikandar Raza added 23 runs

In the bowling department for Islamabad:

  • Jason Holder was exceptional, claiming 4 wickets
  • Shadab Khan supported with 3 wickets

Chasing 140 for victory, Islamabad United cruised to the target in just 17.4 overs, losing only 2 wickets.

Top scorers for Islamabad:

  • Colin Munro remained unbeaten on 59 runs
  • Salman Ali Agha was not out on 41 runs

Jason Holder was named Player of the Match for his match-winning 4-wicket haul, setting the perfect tone for Islamabad United’s PSL 2025 campaign.
