Thanks to a superb batting performance by Kusal Janith Perera, the Lahore Qalandars clinched the Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 championship.
This marks the third time Lahore Qalandars have won the PSL title.
The grand final between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators was held yesterday in Lahore.
Batting first, the Quetta Gladiators posted a total of 201 for 9 in their 20 overs. Hasan Nawaz led the scoring with a powerful 76 off 43 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. Avishka Fernando contributed 29 runs and Dinesh Chandimal added 22.
In the bowling department, Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 wickets while Salman Misra and Haris Rauf shared 2 wickets apiece.
In reply, the Lahore Qalandars chased down the target in 19.5 overs with 4 wickets down, scoring 204 runs.
The star of the chase was Kusal Janith Perera, who smashed an unbeaten 62 off just 31 balls, featuring 5 fours and 4 sixes. Mohammad Naeem added 46 runs, and Abdullah Shafique made 41. Sikandar Raza chipped in with a quickfire 22 not out off 7 balls.
Kusal Janith Perera was named Player of the Match for his explosive innings that guided his team to victory.
